Picture this: you’re relaxing poolside, and your published book is out there in the world on Amazon. Even on holiday, KDP lets you make updates, check sales, and tweak details, all from your laptop.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to managing your published book on KDP... Like a Pro!

1. Logging in to KDP

  1. Go to https://kdp.amazon.com.

  2. Click Sign in.

  3. Enter your Amazon account email and password (the same one you used to publish your book).

2. Accessing Your Published Books

  1. Once logged in, you’ll land on the Bookshelf.

  2. Here, you’ll see a list of all your published and draft books.

  3. Click the book title you want to manage to see options.

3. Making Changes to an Existing Book

You can edit most details except the book’s ASIN/ISBN (unless you change formats).

Steps:

  1. Click your book title → Paperback Actions / Kindle eBook Actions → Edit eBook details or Edit Paperback details.

  2. You can update:

    • Book title (minor updates only)

    • Description

    • Author name

    • Keywords

    • Categories

    • Book cover or manuscript (upload new files if needed)

  3. After making changes, click Save and Continue, then Publish.

    • Updates may take up to 72 hours to appear on Amazon.

4. Accessing Sales and Royalties Reports

  1. Click Reports at the top menu of KDP.

  2. Key report sections:

    • Sales Dashboard: Quick view of units sold per day/week/month.

    • Prior Month’s Royalties: Total earnings for past months.

    • Orders Report: Detailed info on sales by marketplace.

    • Payments: Shows upcoming and past payments.

5. Tips for Managing Your Books

  1. Always preview changes before publishing.

  2. Minor text or metadata changes don’t affect your page much, but uploading a new manuscript will trigger Amazon review again.

  3. Regularly check Reports to track trends and adjust keywords or categories if needed.
