I Wrote My Very First Book!

Updated: Dec 27, 2024

I had just finished the last of Barbara Davis's books, The Echo of Old Books, and felt desperate for another. With her next release not due until 2025 (right around my birthday—hint, hint!), I reached out to ask if she could recommend any authors with a similar style and genre. To my delight, she responded right away (shoutout to Barbara! Her quick engagement made me feel the love!) and suggested Diane Chamberlain’s Necessary Lies, which I ended up purchasing that same day—I highly recommend it as well.

What I discovered is that both Barbara and Diane weave together stories that blend the past and present, filled with love, secrets, and mystery. It dawned on me that this style has a certain formula, and I thought, maybe I should give it a try!

I began writing The Vineyard at Midnight whenever I could find some free time. Some days I wrote for hours, while others I didn’t write at all. During a family trip to Yosemite, I shared my journey with my brother Greg, who asked to read what I had written so far. That’s how he became my editor. His stellar editing skills and kind words of encouragement kept me going when I felt discouraged or stuck. This book is as much his as it is mine.
